General Topics: Engineering, Robotics, Electric Energy, Electronics, Programming
Grade Level: 2-3
In this activity we created our own robots from one of the projects we have not yet done as a class. The students were able to make whichever form they wanted and allowed free form to add anything more they wanted to the robot.
Most the students created the robot from the guided project “Speed” while the rest of the students created “Drop and Rescue” or “Sort to Recycle”. The students spent time creating these projects and then programming the robots. They began by following the programming recommended in the guided project but quickly created their own codes and explored what they could do!
The class was open-ended and it was a great end to exploring the lego robots and software!
In this activity we created a new robot, one which is able to turn while only using one motor!
This class we learned:
- How to code using visual programming (the WeDo software)
- How open feedback systems work in robots
